Airplane Launches Off From Aircraft Carrier Hits a Rogue Wave

This video was filmed in 1971 on board the USS Ticonderoga (CVS-14). A Grumman S-2E Tracker plane is ready for takeoff, the seas around the ship are fairly calm, and permission is given for the plane to take off. Amazingly the plane makes the take off with no problem. Rogue waves are large, unexpected and suddenly appearing surface waves that can be extremely dangerous, even to large ships such as ocean liners.
