London on September 12, 2001. Queen Elizabeth II Breaks Tradition

The Queen ordered the Buckingham Palace guard band to play the Star Spangled Banner, instead of the UK Anthem (which of course, is usually played). This was done to show solidarity with the US during this awful time. This is when you really know who your friends are. Amazing, because the Star-Spangled Banner poem comes from the US surviving a night of bombardment by British forces in the War of 1812, the defense of Fort M’Henry, written on September 14, 1814. A Truly unique moment in history.
