Chain-link fences are everywhere, but as simple as they might look, the manufacturing process is interesting. The process of making chain-link fences was developed by Charles Barnard in 1844 in the United Kingdom with the firm of Barnard, Bishop & Barnard, based on cloth weaving machines. Anchor Fence, (established in 1898) bought the rights to the machine and was the first American company to manufacture chain-link fencing in the United States. Anchor Fence also holds the first United States patent of chain-link.
